Choose the correct category while adding a product Product Category is required. Entering Add Product from a newly created category can preselect it, so check the selection rather than assuming it is blank.

What to do Open Product Category in the form. Use Search categories to find the intended category. Choose the category and confirm its name beside the field. Save the product and verify its category in the catalogue. What you should see The selected category is retained with the saved product.
If it does not work No categories found can reflect a search term rather than an empty catalogue. Clear the search first. If the category truly does not exist, create it through the category workflow instead of assigning an unrelated category just to pass validation.
For support, include the screen name, time, app version and a redacted error. Never share passwords, OTPs, payment PINs or secret keys.
