Give an AI store assistant the smallest useful permission

An assistant that can read a catalogue does not automatically need permission to change prices, publish copy or alter orders. Separate advice from action when evaluating store automation.

List the job in plain language

Decide whether the tool should summarise information, draft a change, prepare a plan or execute an operation. Those are different permissions.

For example, identifying incomplete product descriptions may require reading public product data. Applying prices to every item is a separate action with a much larger consequence.

Begin with read-only evidence

Ask the tool to show the records behind its recommendation. Check whether it understands a product option, an unavailable item and an older order correctly.

Do not grant broad write access merely because the summary sounds confident. A polished explanation can still rest on a misunderstood field.

Define a bounded change

If action is useful, specify the exact records, permitted fields and maximum scope. Keep a before-state and a way to inspect the proposed difference.

A useful first test changes a controlled example, not the entire store. Avoid customer transactions or irreversible operations while establishing whether the assistant follows the boundary.

Keep sensitive capabilities separate

Order deletion, payment configuration and customer-data access deserve particular care. Confirm the provider's permission model and current security documentation rather than assuming a conversational instruction replaces an access control.

Never paste credentials into the conversation as a shortcut. Use the supported secure connection process and understand how access can be revoked.

Judge reliability by exceptions

Test what happens when data is missing, a request fails or the instruction conflicts with a store rule. The assistant should expose uncertainty rather than silently choose a broader action.

This is a selection framework, not a claim that oBizee includes a particular AI-agent integration. Use the platform-choice guides to compare responsibility and recovery alongside the appealing demonstration.

Illustrative case to check

An assistant needs to identify missing product dimensions. Read access to the relevant public records may be enough. Permission to delete orders or change payment settings does not help that task. Begin with the narrow connection and inspect its findings. If you later authorise edits, scope them to the verified dimension fields and retain the previous values.

Use this guide, then test your own workflow.

Examples are illustrative. Confirm current features, charges and suitability before making a business decision.
