Run a useful AI SEO audit on three real store pages

An AI SEO audit is useful when it produces a small set of evidence-backed changes. Start with a homepage, a category and a product you actually sell, rather than asking a tool to invent hundreds of recommendations.

THE SHORT ANSWER

Why is my published page not showing in Google or AI search answers?

Publishing a page and submitting a sitemap do not mean the page has been crawled or indexed. Inspect the exact URL: an unknown URL, a discovered-but-not-crawled page, and an indexed page with no impressions need different investigations. Check crawl access, internal links and the answer's usefulness. Google AI search links require indexing; no markup or AI file guarantees selection.

Google's requirements for AI search features distinguish eligibility from guaranteed inclusion.

An AI SEO audit is useful when it produces a small set of evidence-backed changes. Start with a homepage, a category and a product you actually sell, rather than asking a tool to invent hundreds of recommendations.

Define the decision before collecting suggestions

Write down what is wrong or unknown. Perhaps customers search for a product but land on an unrelated page. Perhaps the product title omits its defining size. Perhaps the category introduction makes a delivery promise the shop cannot honour. These are different problems and should not become one generic SEO score.

Give the tool the visible page content and the task you want the visitor to complete. Remove customer details, private dashboards and credentials. A public-page audit does not need an order export.

Ask for evidence attached to every recommendation

Request the exact existing phrase, the proposed change, the reason and the fact that supports it. Reject a recommendation that cannot identify its source. A tool that says to add free shipping because competitors mention it has not discovered a business capability.

Google's people-first guidance emphasises useful, reliable content rather than writing primarily to manipulate rankings. It also says Google has no preferred word count. Use that as a boundary, not a claim that one particular article length will perform best. Google Search Central

Separate editorial fixes from technical work

A clearer heading may be a content edit. A missing canonical, inaccessible page or broken redirect needs technical investigation. Do not accept generated code changes just because they accompany reasonable copy advice.

Create three queues: facts to verify, text to improve and implementation to investigate. Assign an owner to each. The person who knows the product should confirm the material and delivery claims; the person maintaining the site should assess the technical change.

Use one product as a controlled example

Imagine a handmade pouch page titled simply “New collection.” A better title may identify the pouch and its actual material. The audit should not add waterproof, organic or same-day delivery unless those claims are supported.

Keep a before copy, make the smallest useful revision and check the mobile page. Confirm the product options and buying link still work. A change that improves a title while removing the size explanation is not an overall improvement.

Decide how you will judge the result

Record the date, changed fields and page. Compare relevant search queries and customer questions over a meaningful period. Do not attribute every movement to the edit when promotions, stock or seasonality also changed.

A completed audit leaves fewer unexplained recommendations, not a larger spreadsheet. Start with three pages, resolve the facts and expand the method only when it helps you make better decisions. Use the guide library to address the underlying catalogue or customer-service problem when SEO is only the symptom.

Illustrative case to check

Suppose the three pages are a homepage, a pouch category and a small cotton pouch. The audit proposes “same-day dispatch” on all three, but the merchant only confirms that service for ready stock. Hold that claim rather than applying it everywhere. Accept a factual product-name correction separately. Your result log should show one accepted edit and one unresolved operating claim, not a single percentage score that hides the difference.

Use this guide, then test your own workflow.

Examples are illustrative. Confirm current features, charges and suitability before making a business decision.
