Let customers look up a specific order with its checkout contact

Provide a reference-based order lookup instead of making every progress enquiry start from scratch.

Give the customer a precise starting point

The current Track Order page asks for an order number and the email or phone associated with it. That connects an enquiry to a record more reliably than a product photo or a first name alone. Keep the order reference in your normal confirmation process.

Show the available record honestly

A successful lookup returns order details and the available timeline. The usefulness of that information still depends on the underlying order and shipment records being accurate. A tracking page is not proof that every carrier event appears instantly or that a parcel has been physically received.

Handle failed lookups without creating another order

An incorrect reference, contact or merchant address can prevent a match. Customers should check those details and contact the merchant privately, not place the order again to see whether it works. Support can usually begin with a reference and a redacted error rather than a full address screenshot.

Evaluate privacy and the operational handoff

Use your own authorised order when assessing the flow. Do not probe other customers' references. This feature does not replace the merchant's responsibility to explain a delay, correct a record or confirm a remedy. Keep status updates and customer communication aligned with what actually happened.

UNDERSTANDING THE WORKFLOW

A tracking link is a way to find updates, not proof of delivery

A customer asking “Where is my order?” needs the best available status and a meaningful next step. A tracking link helps them reach updates, but the link alone does not prove delivery.

What the inspected interface offers The delivery component includes tracking information, copying or opening a link and provider-dependent label handling. It explicitly distinguishes point-to-point delivery without a printed label and advises checking the courier for the latest status.

Do not assume every provider uses the same label or tracking workflow. Confirm which information belongs to the actual shipment before sharing it.

Check the destination Open the intended tracking destination and verify that it relates to the correct shipment. Avoid sharing private internal links or another customer’s record.

Explain uncertainty honestly If a carrier has not updated its status, say what is known and what you are checking. Do not convert “label created” into “dispatched” or “dispatched” into “delivered” without supporting evidence.

The tracking feature page is the capability owner. This article explains what tracking information means and does not promise real-time updates, guaranteed delivery dates or support for every courier.
